New Year's Resolution

Hello my non-existent readers.

It's election season and I thought maybe it was time to start posting my usual anti-government rantings again.

There was no real response to the open letter.

Here's what Senator Amy Klobuchar's office sent in response:

Thank you for taking the time to e-mail me. We have received your message. One of the most important parts of my job is listening to what the people of Minnesota have to say to me. I am here in our nation’s capital to do the public’s business on behalf of the people of our state.

Please continue to visit my website at http://www.klobuchar.senate.gov to follow what I am working on, both in Washington and Minnesota. It is frequently updated with current news and events regarding my work in the U.S. Senate.

Gee, thanks Amy. To her credit and in all fairness, I also got this in response the very same day. I still get shined on, but it is by far to most personal response I've ever received from an elected official.

Dear (name removed to protect the guilty):

Thank you for taking the time to write to my office about your disapproval of the federal government. Based on your letter, it is clear to me that you have thought about this issue at length. It is always helpful to hear people's ideas and our office will consider your views as we go forward. I appreciate that you shared your thoughts and concerns with me.

One of the most important parts of my job is listening to what the people of Minnesota have to say to me. I am here in our nation’s capital to do the public’s business and to serve the people of our state. I hope you will contact me again about matters of concern to you.

My Representative, Betty McCollum sent this in response:

I have yet to receive any further correspondence from Representative McCollum. Way to be in touch with your constituents Betty. These people do not care one bit what I think or what I say. The only thing I have to offer them is one measly vote and that's just not enough for them.

Alas, I am subject to the taxation and the above "representation" for the time being.
